Despite sanctions Belarus airline will add soon three A330 aircraft to its fleet
An A330 was spotted in Minsk wearing the Belavia livery. This aircraft is one of three Airbus A330 aircraft which despite sanctions ended in Belarus. Gambian Magic Air was used to broker this sale.
In March 2025 Reuters already reported about the sale of the three A330s by Magic Air to Belarus. In March 2025 this website reported about the two aircraft flown from Muscat to Minsk. The third was ferried from Cairo to Minsk. End of May 2025 many Belarus media reported about the A330 now wearing Belavia colours.
The three aircraft involved are C5-TAB (525), C5-TAC (509), and C5-TAD (491). They will become EW-587PD, EW-588PD, and EW-589PD. The exact tie-up of the airframes is currently unknown.
EW-589PD is parked in front of Minsk Civil Aviation Plant No. 407. An aircraft painting complex was opened there last year . The aircraft appeared in this May 25 video of a Belarus Youtube channel. The channel wanted to explain the equipment used at the airport
The principal owner of Magic Air is a Jordanian businessman of Syrian origin, Tarek Ziyad Abdel Hamid al-Ajami. He previously brought Airbus planes for the Syrian airline Cham Wings, which under Bashar al-Assad was used to transport Syrian mercenaries, arms trafficking, drug trafficking and money laundering. The EU also imposed sanctions on Cham Wings because the company transported migrants from Syria trying to enter the EU illegally to Belarus.
