Chinese man builds full scale mock-up of Airbus A320 aircraft
A Chinese man, helped by 5 of his friends, built a full scale model of an Airbus A320. Former garlic farmer, welder and motorcycle mechanic Zhu Yue (40) worked 1,5 year to construct his dream. He used 40 tonnes of steel and the total cost are around 320.000 Euro. The wheels of the landinggear are from a real retired aircraft. The cockpit instruments are from a supplier of aircraft simulator instruments.
The initial building started in an industrial area in Kaiyuan city, in the Liaoning province of northwest China. In 2018 it was moved to the current location about 10 km north of Kaiyuan. (42.605889, 124.031507). The aircraft has been painted in a ‘Dream’ livery.
The engine makes noise and the fanblades rotate just like a real engine.
The team who build the aircraft plans to create an aviation-themed restaurant. An alternative plan is to live in the aircraft.
Some video’s showing the aircraft are here and here.
Photos and video made by Kevin Jia who visited the aircraft in January 2019.
