Indian desinformation: time needed to set both switches to CUTOFF position

Almost every day Indian media present new stories which create doubt on what is written in the preliminary report. At July 20 NDTV publishes an article titled ‘ Off In 1 Second? Expert’s ‘Mathematical Debunking’ Of Air India Crash Theory’

One of the many experts who are presented in Indian media is Captain Eshan Khalid. He states:

So, a four-second gap in putting (switches) on in an aircraft that is dying, and both of them know they are dead if they don’t. Shouldn’t this have been in milliseconds?” he pointed out.

He means that both switches were set within one second from eachtother from RUN to CUTOFF. While it took four seconds between the first switch was set from CUTOFF to RUN and the second switch.

Mr Khalied then explained that he thinks an electrical signal turned off the fuel, and the switches were not moved at that point. They were probably only moved later when the pilots were trying to restart the engines to avoid the crash, which they could not prevent.

There is no explanation why it took four seconds yet. The memory item says switches can be set to RUN immediately after eachother. We can just guess. One possibility is the captain, who likely set both switches to CUTOFF, was not in a hurry to bring the engines to life. Another one was the co-pilot was too busy trying to safe the aircraft.

The four seconds delay does not discredit what is written in the preliminary report. There are videos showing that one second for setting both switches is possible.
