Massive failure by Greek media on reporting on Air India B787 crash

Greek media failed on Sunday June 15 when they reported fake new on the cause of the Air India B787 crash.

Fake messages posted on aviation website mentioned a preliminary report by Indian authority came to the conclusion the crash was caused because the seat of one of the pilots slides backwards during takeoff.

Totally nonsense and any junior journalist could have spotted this was fake news. The date was not correct, the destination was not correct.

Greek Proto Thema, which is a Sunday newspaper, however reported about this fake news. The journalist who wrote the nonsense is named Frixos Dracontides. Protothema.gr is the top news website in Greece, having ~76.8 million monthly visits

The fake news was also reported by Greek Capital. This is an online news media with monthly visits, which range from 12.8 to 14 million — making it a major player in Greek online business and finance media.

Huffingtonpost Greece also reported fake news.

Also Neos Kosmos reported this fake news. Neos Kosmos stands as the largest Greek community newspaper outside Greece, with 100,000+ regular monthly readers.
