Iran Acquires Another Aircraft Despite International Sanctions
Despite international sanctions, the Iranian regime has once again managed to acquire an aircraft. This time, it is not a regular passenger jet but a VIP-configured Boeing 737-400.
The aircraft has been registered as EP-SAU (serial number 25423). Until 2011 the aircraft flew as PH-BTB for KLM.
The aircraft, which was still registered to its owner Titan Aviation San Marino at the time, departed from Jakarta International Airport on 14 January 2026. It made stopovers in Singapore and Sri Lanka before arriving at Muscat Airport in Oman on 15 January.
It was not until 27 February that the aircraft continued its journey to Iran.
On 25 May 2026, the aircraft operated its first flight for its new operator, Atlas Air (Iran). The aircraft transported Iran’s Minister of Energy from Tehran to Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The flight was operated using the ATS flight number.
