Despite sanctions Iran received two airplanes at 15 November 2024
Iranian airlines cannot purchase western built aircraft as a result of sanctions. Also spare parts are not allowed to be sold to Iran. However Iranian airlines frequently add additional Airbus and Boeing aircraft to their fleet. Via proxy airlines and other tricks aircraft are flown to Iran. See this post of an overview of previous deliveries.
Airbus A340-600 5N-AAM flew as APK7925 on November 15, 2025 from Kano towards Iran. Shortly after entering Iranian airspace the transponder was switched off. The previous operator of the aircraft was Nigerian Azman Air.
Boeing 737 5N-YSM , also formerly operated by Azman Air, departed Kano at November 15, 2024. After a stop in Cairo it landed at Tehran Mehrabad airport.
It is very likely these two aircraft will be added to an Iranian airport. Another possibility is an airline in Venezuela.
