Royal Jordanian Air Force Set to Add Two Boeing 737-400 Freighters
The Royal Jordanian Air Force is expected to add two Boeing 737-400 freighters to its fleet in the near future. The development follows the appearance of two all-white 737-400 freighters at Shannon Airport in Ireland.
One of the aircraft already carries the military registration RJAF-363. It was previously registered as N308AF. The second aircraft currently retains the US registration N459AF.

The freighters will probably be operated by Jordan International Air Cargo & Defense Industries (JIAC&DI), a company owned by and operating on behalf of the Royal Jordanian Air Force.
JIAC&DI’s official website currently states, notably and explicitly, that the company:
“is currently in process of purchasing a wide-body freighter (B767-300ER), (B737-800), (A330-200/300), (A321-200)”
Although this statement does not mention the Boeing 737-400, it confirms that JIAC&DI is actively seeking to expand and modernise its cargo fleet with several different aircraft types.
The two 737-400 freighters may replace Ilyushin Il-76 aircraft previously operated for the Jordanian Air Force.
From approximately June 2025 until January 2026, an Il-76 registered RJAF-361 operated on behalf of the air force. In early 2026, the aircraft was transferred to Burkina Faso-registered Batot Air and re-registered as XT-ABN.
Another Il-76, registered RJAF-360, was also operated for the Jordanian Air Force. That aircraft was probably withdrawn from the fleet in October 2025.
The arrival of the two Boeing freighters therefore appears to mark a transition from the large, Soviet-designed Il-76 to smaller and more economical Western-built cargo aircraft.
